Watch Repair, Overhaul, and Maintenance – FAQs & Answers

  • What is the typical turnaround time for a watch service?

The typical turnaround time for a watch service at Balance & Barrel is 3 to 4 weeks. However, this can vary depending on the type of service required and whether any special parts need to be ordered.

  • How are pricing and estimates determined for watch repair and services?

Once your watch is delivered, it undergoes a thorough inspection. After carefully assessing the condition and required repairs, we create a detailed estimate outlining the necessary services and costs. This estimate is then sent to you for review and approval before any work begins, ensuring complete transparency!

  • Are there any watch brands or movements that you do not work on?

At Balance & Barrel, we currently do not service Timex watches, pin-lever movements, or chronograph movements. If you have questions about a specific brand or movement, please reach out, and we’ll be happy to help!

  • Which shipping provider is used to return my watch?

Please note that all completed services include return shipment via USPS Ground with $100 of insurance provided by Balance and Barrel. If your timepiece exceeds this value, or if you prefer additional insurance or an alternative carrier, you are responsible for supplying a prepaid return label that reflects the insurance coverage and shipping method you deem appropriate. Balance and Barrel is not liable for shipping delays, loss, damage, or any other issues that may occur once the package has been transferred to the carrier.

  • What types of warranties do you offer on watch services?

We provide a 1-year warranty on all mechanical and quartz watch services, ensuring the quality and reliability of our repairs. Additionally, we offer a 1-year warranty on battery replacements for your peace of mind.

*Please note that certain vintage watches, particularly those over a specific age, with unique calibres, or in a distressed condition, may be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Any warranty coverage for these timepieces will be determined during the service consultation.

If any issues arise within the warranty period, simply contact us, and we’ll be happy to assist.
